This classic British sound representative brand has received numerous awards in sound design and technology over the years. Monitor Audio Bronze series bookshelf box, the star product in the European bookshelf speaker, is an outstanding representative of British sound.
The first generation was launched 16 years ago. After four consecutive generations of improvements, it has now entered the best state with countless awards. It has become the model with the most awards among the more than 300 product models of Monitor Audio and the most award-winning in the audiophile speaker industry. One of the speakers. The latest generation of copper series Bronze2 has won WHAT HI-FI (2015-2018), the Oscar Award in the audio industry four times, and has become a sales star of bookshelf speakers.
- The award-winning comment given by the authoritative judges of WHAT HI-FI in 2016: “This latest generation of Bronze 2 is arguably the best yet. This is a truly complete speaker for the money.”
- 2017 WHAT HI-FI award-winning comment: “One of our most decorated speakers ever, the Bronze 2 wins the Best Standmount Speaker award for its third year in a row.”
- 2018 WHAT HI-FI award-winning comment: For the fourth year in a row, Bronze 2 shows that it stands the test of time. What Hi-Fi’s review of the bookshelf speakers said: “they have delicacy when required and handle dynamics deftly.”
The users of Monitor Audio’s Bronze series are all audio enthusiasts obsessed with music and demand sound quality. Monitor Audio adopts the famous golden treble technology in the Bronze series, presenting a crystal clear treble effect. The bass part utilizes self-developed aluminum-magnesium alloy high-strength patented vibrating cone technology, which expresses all low-frequency details that are clear, strong, and just right, attracting the favor of countless enthusiasts.
Well-known, wide audience Monitor Audio established in 1972 as one of the outstanding representatives of British sound. It is world-famous for its golden tweeter and metal diaphragm and has won numerous awards in sound design and technology. It is the world’s top manufacturer of professional monitor speakers. The unique feature of Monitor Audio is the “golden tweeter” unit with an all-metal diaphragm. Under the guidance of the pursuit of natural and clear sound quality, many superior products under Monitor Audio have been created and are world-renowned.
Currently, Monitor Audio has more than 300 product models. Monitor Audio has been integrating stereo and surround sound systems and a series of acoustically matched speakers so that it can have super high-quality sound in-home and outdoor surrounds. Because of excellent quality and affordable prices, Monitor Audio’s products have been sold worldwide.
Integration of high-end technology, quality as gold
Monitor Audio has combined the designs of its flagship platinum series, gold series, and silver series into the Bronze series with years of experience. With overwhelming technological advantages, Monitor Audio creates famous masterpieces that surpass rivals at the same level.
The highly regarded “Gold Dome Tweeter” has been improved repeatedly and developed into C-CAM Gold Dome Tweeter. It is different from the general pure aluminum diaphragm, and the sound is particularly clear, with wide frequency bandwidth and strong carrying capacity. The overall sound is clear and exquisite, and the sound quality is beautiful.
Monitor Audio has always given people the impression of cost-effectiveness. Its easy-to-drive effect allows many audio-visual enthusiasts not to have too many restrictions on the choice of the power amplifier. Of course, there is no need for bi-amping, and the outstanding and full sound quality can be displayed. Also, because of its moderate price, it has accumulated many followers over the years.
It is also the newly designed C-CAM midrange, the coil has been improved, very linear, and the vocal texture is particularly strong. Due to the extensive diffusion, the sound stage of the Bronze series is larger than the previous generation. C-CAM bass diaphragm is light and strong, dynamic and can keep distortion low. Due to the ultra-short crossover circuit, the sound is particularly vivid.
Besides, the Bronze series adopts HiVe II port technology, which speeds up the airflow and has extremely low noise, improves low-frequency speed and dynamics, and has a tranquil background. There are not too many restrictions on placement, and it can also be placed close to the wall, saving placement space.
Technology – Gold Dome Tweeter
1986 saw the introduction of one of the most distinctive features on Monitor Audio loudspeakers, the Gold dome tweeter, first produced and fitted on the R352MD speaker.
The Gold Dome tweeter is formed from a ceramic-coated aluminum/magnesium alloy, and gold anodized to a specific thickness for ideal stiffness and damping characteristics. Its new profile and surround geometry have been developed using advanced modeling tools, to provide the optimum qualities for accurate sound reproduction.
The new design moves the first order of breakup to beyond 35 kHz, producing a linear response way beyond audibility, which matches the wide frequency bandwidth available from HD music and cinema sound formats. The gold dome is thinner, lighter, more rigid, and, therefore, more efficient than domes made from other materials prone to distortion in the audio band.
Technology – HiVe II Port
A new type of port technology uses a straight rifled design to accelerate airflow and reduce turbulence. HiVe II technology can move air in and out much quicker than a conventional port. The result is fast, powerful bass coupled with a superior transient response.
Sound performance goes beyond the recognition of “entry level.”
Since it is one of the representative brands of British Sound, we first tested this speaker’s performance in terms of a human voice. Eva Cassidy’s “Time After Time” album shows the human voice is transparent on the system, which is very surprising. At the same time, it can show the magnetic charm of the singer’s voice.
When you close your eyes, you can feel that the female singer seems to be standing in front of you and singing, naturally and beautifully. The accompaniment music has good separation from the human voice, and the distance is moderate, forming a three-dimensional feeling. The sound field shaping is very standard, not overly broad or convergent, and has a strong sense of reality.
When faced with some drum music albums, Monitor Audio Bronze 2 also showed a good momentum. The bass created by the drums is expressed vigorously and shocks the heart. You can feel the constant flow of power and the fierce dynamics that are too thunderous and full of presence. For a traditional British style speaker, it is quite surprising to have such a low-frequency performance.
After listening to Monitor Audio Bronze 2 bookshelf speakers’ performance, it subverted my understanding of “entry level.” Thanks to the technical decentralization of the previous generation of entry-level, the classic technology of Monitor Audio has been inherited in Bronze 2. It is small yet dynamic enough. In this way, there is no reason to refuse the purchase of Monitor Audio Bronze 2 bookshelf speakers.
